The Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded this year to Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer. The citation referred to their contributions to development, more specifically in promoting methodologies using Randomized Controlled Trials in the analysis of the impact of interventions in development. Professor Stefan Dercon of Oxford University discussed their contribution.
