Samyuktha Kannan is a visiting PhD candidate from the development economics group at Wageningen University, Netherlands. She primarily researches the applied microeconomics and behavioural economics of development, focusing on technology adoption, climate risk management and gender dynamics in agriculture. Her PhD thesis examines market failures in crop insurance in India and Kenya through experimental studies conducted with researchers from Wageningen University, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and the World Bank. Before beginning her PhD, Samyuktha worked for seven years at IFPRI, the Centre for Microfinance and has consulted with several development organizations. She holds an M.S. in Applied Economics from Cornell University and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras).
