Oliver is currently a part-time DPhil student at the Department of Continuing Education where he is a Clarendon Scholar in Sustainable Urban Development. His thesis title is: ‘Decentralisation, urbanisation, and local economic development in Africa’ under which he blends spatial economics and economic geography in a mixed methods framework. Concurrently Oliver is part time employed as a Cities Economist at the International Growth Centre, Department of Economics, London School of Economics where he also holds a research collaboration with the Department of Geography and Environment. Oliver formerly worked for the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford where he delivered policy relevant urban economic research for African and South Asian governments.
