Abiodun Adetokunbo is an economist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Augustine University, Lagos, Nigeria. He is a development and applied macroeconomist with a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. His research spans macroeconomics, international trade, energy and environmental economics, and development, with complementary interests in technology adoption and the dynamics of informality in low-income countries.
His work applies empirical and econometric methods to examine structural transformation, climate vulnerability, and firm- and sector-level responses to economic and environmental shocks. His research has addressed issues including renewable energy adoption and manufacturing performance, climate vulnerability and investment decisions, mineral processing and industrial linkages, trade and institutional quality, and the role of uncertainty in financial and commodity markets.
Abiodun is affiliated with the Innovation Growth Lab (IGL) research network and is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society. In 2025, he participated as a PEDL Young Scholar at the Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Matchmaking Workshop.
He holds a PhD in Economics from Babcock University, an MSc in Economics from the University of Ilorin and BSc in Economics from Osun State University. Prior to his current appointment, he progressed through the academic ranks at Augustine University, serving as Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer II, and Lecturer I. He has taught a wide range of courses, including Mathematics for Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Petroleum Economics, Public Sector Economics, and Labour Economics.
