Richard Gilbert is in the second year of a PhD in environmental and development economics at the CEE-M (Centre d'Economie de l'Environnement de Montpellier), affiliated to the INRAE (French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment) and the Institut Agro Montpellier. His work focuses on the interactions between biodiversity and economic development. The aim of his research is to understand the extent to which economic conditions have an impact on biodiversity and on the effectiveness of conservation policies. He also seeks to understand how biodiversity can influence people's economic conditions. Richard Gilbert Nikiema holds a double master's degree from CERDI (Université Clermont Auvergne), in project analysis and economic analysis.
