Nicolas Lippolis is a Research and Policy Officer at the Centre for the Study of African Economies, based at the Blavatnik School of Government. He works with Stefan Dercon and Stephen Peel on the project on “Paths to Industrialisation in the 21st Century”, which aims to reshape the policy agenda on industrialisation, synthesizing existing knowledge on the topic and spelling out its policy implications for low-income countries, especially in Africa.
Nicolas holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and an MSc in Economics for Development, both from Oxford University. Prior to joining the Blavatnik School, he worked in the Macroeconomics Research department at Goldman Sachs in London.
His research interests are in structural transformation, industrial policy, and the political economy of development, with a regional focus on Africa and Latin America.
