The recent Nobel Prizes in Economics, and what do they mean for Ethiopia and other African countries”?

Date and time: Friday 13 December 2019. 1830 (12:30 local time)

Venue: Hilton Hotel, Addis Ababa

The Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded this year to Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer. Professor Stefan Dercon of Oxford University will discuss their contribution, give examples where this method has been offering insights in Ethiopia and other countries, its contribution to evidence-based policy making across the developing world, as well as discuss any limitations in the design and implementation of development policies, including in Ethiopia.

Stefan Dercon is Professor of Economics Policy at the University, and former Chief Economist of DFID.
