CSAE Research Assistant
Salary Grade 6: £25,854 - £30,870 p.a.
The Centre for the Study of African Economies at the Department of Economics, University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant. The post will be funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has awarded the Centre for the Study of African Economies funding for a research project 'Transforming economic policies towards the poor'.
We are looking to appoint in the first instance one full-time post for 12 months, starting January 2012, renewable subject to funding. We would also be open to offering a part-time post if a suitable candidate applies.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
-
MSc or equivalent in Economics with a knowledge of a range of development issues;

Strong analytic and technical capabilities in modern economic methods, preferably but not exclusively microeconomics;

Capability in statistical and econometric methods;

Experience – preferably in a managing capacity – in coordinating micro-level fieldwork in Africa, and interest in spending substantial time in Africa.
Desirable
- Interest in and experience of work in communications is desirable.
