Biography
Richard Stanley is a PhD candidate in Politics at the University of Oxford, where he also completed an MSc in African Studies. Prior to enrolling at Oxford, Richard worked as a software engineer and UNIX systems administrator in California's Silicon Valley. Richard's academic research focuses on the effectiveness of humanitarian and health-related interventions in developing countries, particularly those affected by war. In 2008-2009, he conducted fieldwork in Sierra Leone as Fulbright fellow. Since 2005, Richard has been serving as a consulting expert on field survey management and data analysis. Most recently, he consulted on a UN project on livelihoods, displacement and health in the Darfur region of Sudan and on a survey for Norwegian People's Aid of gender-based violence in South Sudan.
