Biography
Patrick Barron is a current DPhil candidate in the Department of Politics, University of Oxford. He has previous degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Harvard University. For seven years, he managed the World Bank's conflict programme in Indonesia including the Bank's support to the Aceh peace process. He has published widely, including articles in World Development, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of East Asian Studies and St. Antony's International Review as well as numerous book chapters and policy papers. His book on local conflict and community development in Indonesia (Contesting Development) was published by Yale University Press this year. He has also been a contributor to the 2011 World Development Report on Conflict, Security and Development, and acts as an advisor to AusAID, the World Bank and The Asia Foundation on fragility and violence issues. His doctoral research uses mixed methods to understand why patterns and forms of post-conflict violence vary in different areas of Indonesia that are emerging from large-scale extended violent conflicts.
