Porters’ Lodge – reception and registration
The Porters’ Lodge acts as the College’s reception, and there is a Porter on duty 24 hours a day. Please contact the Lodge if you have any problems during your stay. Registration for the CSAE conference will open on Sunday 17 March at 10:00am.
Arrival and check-in
Please note that bedrooms are generally available from 2.00pm on the day of arrival. As the conference has expanded and we are starting the programme early this year, the college will endeavour to facilitate check-in from 10am on Sunday 17 March. Delegates should report to the Porters’ Lodge and collect keys to their rooms. Room keys are issued to delegates from the Lodge on an individual basis. The College does not operate a hotel keyboard system and delegates are asked to keep their keys during their stay. Coffee and tea making facilities are provided in all bedrooms, together with soap, linen and towels. Hair dryers may be borrowed from the Lodge.
Departure and check-out
Delegates are expected to vacate their bedrooms and return their keys to the Porters’ Lodge by 10.00am on the morning of their departure. For most people, this will mean after breakfast, before the first conference session of that day. A charge of £20 will be incurred if a key is not handed in by 10.00am, and an additional day’s charge will be incurred if a room is not vacated in time for it to be ready for the next guest. Luggage may be left in the luggage room in the Porter’s Lodge.
Conference meals – please wear name badge for access
Breakfast is served 07.45–8.30am in the Dining Hall on the days of the conference and 8.00–9.00am on other days. Lunch and dinner on Sunday, lunch and dinner on Monday and lunch on Tuesday will be served in the Dining Hall as scheduled in the conference programme.
Wireless access is available in all bedrooms – for a password please see the conference organisers during registration, or the Porters at other times. Wired access is also available: computers should be set to automatically obtain an IP address by DHCP. Users need an Ethernet patch lead which should be plugged into any odd numbered network socket, situated in the skirting board of each room. Please see the conference organisers for ethernet leads and further information.
There are no public payphones on the College campus. The Porters are able to provide delegates with telephones and phone cards to use in bedrooms. The phone cards are £5 each, and the deposit for the phone is £5. Payment must be in cash or by card. There is a free phone in the Porters’ Lodge which can be used for arranging taxis.
The College Medical Officer can be reached through the Porters’ Lodge where there is also a first aid box.
The Junior Common Room and bar are available to delegates as a social area during the conference. Bar sales are on a cash basis.
During the conference, messages for participants will be posted on the notice board in the Porters’ Lodge. Please check the board from time to time.
