Frequently Asked Questions

We welcome children to the CSAE Conference, and the Conference venue, St Catherine’s College, is happy about children being within the college premises (including the tea/coffee/meal areas), if they are accompanied by their parent or a nominated carer who will assume responsibility for the child's safety.

If you would like us to put you in touch with an agency who will provide certified childcare while you are attending the conference, then please let us know by the end of February 2020.

 When you submit your paper, you will be asked to upload a pdf. The word limit for the abstract is 4000 words. The remainder of the paper can be any length providing the total size of the PDF file is less than 5MB.

Papers do not have to be specifically focussed on the continent of Africa. We are happy to receive all submissions based around the themes of development economics, providing they deal with issues central to African development.

If you are unsure whether the subject matter of your paper is in keeping with the themes of the conference, you can see examples of the types of paper our conference team selects by looking at last year's conference programme. You can read each paper by clicking on the name of the paper.

There is a limited budget to fund African presenters who are currently living and working in Africa, and who will be travelling from Africa to the CSAE Conference 2020. If awarded, funding will cover flights, accommodation, and conference registration costs. Please note, speakers who are awarded funding are expected to attend the Conference for all three days.

We welcome applications for funding from authors who meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • You must be living in an African country;
  • You must be working or studying in an African country;
  • You must be travelling to the Conference from an African country.

If your co-authors would also like to apply for funding, then they must be the submitter and presenter of their own unique paper that they have authored.

To apply for funding, please select YES when asked in the online submission form.

Further information regarding the submission process can be found in the Submissions Guide.

 The conference proceedings are not formally published. However, accepted papers will be available online in the CSAE Conference 2020 Programme.

You are free to submit your paper to any publisher for future publication in a journal.

Please note that if you wish to submit a paper which has recently been accepted for publication, you should only do so if your publisher is happy with this. Some publishers embargo content, so you should check with them first.
